With a background in Therapeutic Deep Tissue Massage, Functional Anatomy and Yoga Teaching as well as years of experience and ongoing training in various forms of somatic therapy I’ve developed my own style of body work which I call “Neuromuscular Therapy”. The aim of Neuromuscular Therapy is to relieve pain and return injured soft tissues to their normal functioning, as well as reballancing the body and bringing the musculo-skeletal structure into alignment.

Neuromuscular Therapy addresses postural and muscular imbalances as well as nerve entrapment by working on trigger points. Trigger Points or “knots” are bands of rigid tissue that develop in injured muscles and can cause pain either at the site of the “knot” or referred pain. They can also block circulation, limit movement, cause inflammation and tingling or numbness, muscle stiffness, fatigue, and weakness. Examples of referred pain include: sciatica, carpal tunnel, TMJ Syndrome and headaches. Some causes of injury may be activities that require repetitive motion, chronic physical or emotional stress, a fall or accident and postural or muscular imbalances. I use targeted, deep tissue techniques to break down trigger points, relieve muscular pain and restore normal functioning of the the musculo-skeletal and nervous systems. This naturally balances the body and brings it back into alignment

Over the years I’ve successfully treated people with various conditions such as chronic pain, parkinsons, MS, cancer sufferers, the elderly, clients with emotional challenges and addictions, athletes and sports people and of course many people with specific problem areas such as lower back tension, neck spasms, whiplash, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, migraines, sciatica, calf and ham string injuries etc. Neuromuscular Therapy can assist in the treatment of most musculo-skeletal and associated problems, it also improves circulatory, lymphatic and neurological functioning and can be stimulating or soothing, depending on the technique, depth and speed used. Many people see to me for relief of pain and require attention to specific problem areas while others enjoy a more general, relaxing, full body treatment.
